The Senate, Monday, confirmed the immediate past Governors of Ebonyi State, David Umahi; and his Rivers State counterpart, David Umahi, as Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Confirmed also was the immediate-past Deputy Whip of the House of Representatives who represented Isuikwuato-Umunneochi federal constituency at the 9th House of Representatives, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
Other nominees cleared by the Senate were former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN; Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, among others .
But the immediate-past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, was not confirmed as the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said about five nominees were awaiting security clearance.
Similarly, the confirmation of the former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Senator Abubakar Danladi, is also pending; as well as Stella Okotete, a nominee from Delta State.
Senator Akpabio said that 45 out of the 48 nominees sent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for screening had been confirmed.
