Concerned about the lack of befitting facility to handle the large crowd of patients on admission at the Accident & Emergency Ward of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti, has promised to assist with Management of the hospital complete its new E & E Ward.
The Governor made the promise during a chat with the Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the hospital, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi, when the Governor had a brief stop-over at the hospital.
He noted with concern, the condition of patients at the Ward, and promised to assist mitigate their problems.
The FMC Umuahia is arguably the only functional public medical facility in Abia State to manage emergency, other secondary and tertiary health cases.
Ikengaonline reports that the current A & E Ward is usually crowded and hardly accommodates the number of patients on admission in the facility.
Necessary medical equipment for emergency cases at the facility are also in short supply.
The Governor, also during the visit empathised with some patients in critical conditions as he promised to pick their medical bills.
Meanwhile, the CMD, Professor Onyebuchi, was full of thanks to Otti for the visit and show of love.
He promised continued partnership with the State Government to promote the health of residents.
