The newly assigned commissioners in Enugu State have promised to work towards actualising Gov. Peter Mbah’s vision for the people of the state.
The commissioners in separate interviews with newsmen after their swearing-in in Enugu, said they were ready to hit the ground running towards achieving Mbah’s policies and programmes for the state.
Mr Aka Eze Aka, who was appointed Commissioner for Information said he was ready to work with full commitment, dedication and friendship.
Aka expressed the need for continuous interaction between the government and people to move the state forward.
He described Mbah’s government as different, as it had innovations that would put the people first.
Aka commended Mbah for picking him from nowhere to the height of commissioner.
“I want to thank him immensely because nobody asked him to choose me,” he said.
Another commissioner, Emeka Ajogwu, Special Duties, said he and his colleagues were ready to work in synergy with the governor to ensure that policies and programmes of the government as marshaled out in Mbah’s manifesto come to fruition.
According to him, he was confident of the capacity and capability of Gov. Mbah to steer the ship of the state to safe landing.
Ajogwu said he would like the government to make significant impact on the reduction of youths unemployment and engage them in agriculture and agricultural businesses.
Prof. Sam Ugwu, Commissioner for Environment, while thanking the governor for the opportunity given to him to serve, said he would discharge his responsibilities with integrity, transparency and with all energy to actualise Mbah’s vision for Enugu people.
“My aim is to ensure that people are satisfied with what we are doing,” he said.
Mrs Ugochi Madueke, Tourism and Culture, said she would replicate what she did to transform Nike Lake Resort Hotel, Enugu.
According to her, Nike Lake was moribund but with the support from the state government, she transformed it.
“Now I have been given another opportunity, what I will do will be better and greater than what I did at Nike Lake,” she said.
Other commissioners and their portfolios include Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, Commissioner for Education; Mrs Ngozi Enih, Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development; Prince Lawrence Ezeh, Lands and Urban Development; while Mr Patrick Ubro, Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation and Pharm; Chika Ugwoke, Labour and Employment.
Also, Dr Kingsley Udeh was appointed the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Prof Emmanuel Obi, Commissioner for Health; Chief Okey Ogbodo, Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Others appointed were Mr Lloyd Ekweremadu, Youth and Sports; Mr Gerald Otiji, Works and Infrastructure; Mr Nathaniel Uramah, Finance and Economic Development; and Dr Malachy Agbo, Human Development and Poverty Eradication.
Mrs Adaora Chukwu, daughter of former governor, Sullivan Chime, was assigned Trade Investment and Industry; Dr Martin Chukwunwike, Housing; Mr Obi Ozor, Transport; and Dr Felix Nnamani heads the Water Resources.
