The Living Grace Foundation Medical Mission, based in United State of America has taken its medical outreach to the Enugu Sports Club to ensure healthy living of the club members.
The medical outreach which took place at the Enugu Sports Club pool side was themed, “Your Health Is Our Priority” as the foundation screens and treats Diabetes, Hypertension, Abnormal Cholesterol, Malaria and others.
Speaking, the General Manager(GM)/President of the foundation, Dr Vitus Nwaele, said the foundation was founded in USA in 2019.
He noted that the foundation does charity work in West African Sub-region and USA as well and was in Lagos in 2022.
“Currently we are in Nigeria, Enugu specifically for medical outreach and we had outreach for indigent population in Trans-Ekulu two days ago and today we are in Enugu Sport Club.
“We are giving this free medical service in collaboration with my colleagues and friends working at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Enugu.
“We decided to take the exercise to Enugu Sport Club because I have a lot of friends that need medication attention but they are not aware,” Nwaele said.
Nwaele said that the current insecurity in the South-East is one of their major challenges in carrying out the exercise in the state.
Sir Victor Atuonwu the chairman Enugu Sports Club who took part in the screening said that the exercise is worthwhile and needed to be a regular exercise.
“Many people do not even know that they have health issues until after the test and I am happy that the members got the opportunity to be tested and treated for free,” he said.
Atuonwu said that the club is sure of the drugs and encourage members to always take advantage of a exercise of such nature for their own good.
Dr Toby Agujobi a member of the sports club described the exercise as a welcome development and noted that many discoveries will take place from the activities.
Agujobi said that he never knew that he had Malaria and has been moving around with it without knowing, if not for the exercise.
He encouraged the members to always go for medical test regularly for discovery of hidden ailments and for early treatment.
