The Enugu State Government says it has commenced a “scoping exercise in all the rural communities in the state that desired electricity.”
Engr Onyema Odo, General Manager, Enugu State Rural Electrification Board, disclosed this in a statement.
He said that the one month exercise which started on Monday 3rd September will end on 2nd October 2023, and was in conjunction with the State Ministry of Rural Development, Chieftaincy affairs and Local Government.
“This exercise is aimed at identifying the status of electricity supply in each community of Enugu State for evaluation, fiscal planning, and project implementation.
“This directive was issued by His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, in line with his administration’s desire to develop and empower rural communities for enhanced livelihood and productivity.
“All interested communities are, by this announcement, urged to contact the Enugu office of the State Rural Electrification Board for the proper survey, design, and general scoping of the communities,” the statement said.
Odoh also said this was coming as the government had identified, scoped, and was working on modalities to commence physical work on the 128 communities with varying electricity needs.
