States in the South-East region have been plunged into darkness as the power system supplying energy to the region collapsed on Thursday.
Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), Thursday morning, announced that the system collapse affected all South-East states including Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo and Abia states.
EEDC said the collapse occurred around 12:40am on Thursday, resulting to the loss of supply across the network areas.
A statement signed by Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh read: “The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred at 12:40am today, 14th September,2023. This has resulted to the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.
“Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide service to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”
It would be recalled that similar system failure occurred last month, throwing residents in Anambra and other states in the region into utter darkness for about four days.
