In what appears to be a deft political manoeuvring, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, elder brother to Peter Obi’s running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, as Political Adviser to the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and the Spokesperson to the Northern Elders Forum, has promptly accepted the offer “to serve.”
The senior Baba-Ahmed announced this Monday on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
“It is time to make it public that I have accepted the call to serve as Special Adviser (Political) to the VP, @KShettim.
“This is not the time for fence-sitting or criticism when you can be useful in turning the country round. I am honored and humbled. Please pray for me & Nigeria,” he posted.
But in a swift response, a social media commentator simply identified as Uche said: “You can only pretend for so long, the true picture will never be hidden.
“The Vice President of a truth has no special authority so I wonder of what use your advice would be to him or even help in influencing policies.
“To agree to serve in this government is to authenticate the… “
