Heavy security around court premises
Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia
Abia State has been enveloped with anxiety as the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia is set to deliver judgment on the petition filed against Gov. Alex Otti by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Okey Ahiwe; and High Chief Ikechi Emenike of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Meanwhile, there is heavy security presence at the premises for the Federal High Court, Umuahia, where the tribunal has been holding its sittings.
Entry point and access roads to the premises were manned by heavily armed security operatives who subjected all persons trying to access the court premises to thorough security checks.
The court room is filled to its brim, leaving newsmen covering the proceedings with little space.
Some newsmen sat on the floor while others were kneeling.
Meanwhile, the tribunal Judges entered the court room around 9:34, and Counsels for the various parties are currently announcing their appearances.
