In a bid to provide affordable healthcare facilities in the state, the Imo State Government has inaugurated the third hospital for oil producing areas of the state.
Inaugurating the world class General Hospital Omuma, in Oru East Local Government Area, Governor Uzodimma maintained that the aim of building numerous hospitals in the state is to ensure easy accessibility to affordable health care services
According to him, the hospital, which was named Michael Uzodimma Memorial hospital after the governor’s father and handed over to the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, was built and equipped with world class facilities to handle cases, and has started admitting and treating patients.
“There is no reason for the light to go off here for even two minutes. It is properly equipped,” Uzodinma noted.
“And because it provides primary and secondary services, from time to time, there will be referrals from this hospital to tertiary hospitals like the University Teaching Hospital. On that notes I am directing the Commissioner for health, to procure forthwith three ambulances to be stationed in each of the hospitals,” he directed.
In an address of welcome, the chairman governing board Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ISOPADEC, Professor Dele Odigbo, appreciated the government for providing accesible and quality healthcare facilities to the rural dwellers.
