Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, has declared war on criminals terrorising their community.
The Central Executive Council of Obosi Development Union (ODU), during a one-day awareness campaign, warned criminals perpetrating crime to desist from their activities or flee the town as they are on course to recover their land from them.
Speaking during the march, the President General of the community, Barr Chimezie Obi, said activities of criminals have caused embarrassment to the community, warning that henceforth the community will not condone anything that will dent its image.
Obi lamented that many culprits are mostly ‘foreigners’ who claimed to come from Obosi. He however warned the criminals to pack their loads and leave the community, noting that the community no longer wants crimes and other forms of criminality to ever be heard again in the town.
Speaking further, the community leader said the town is out to end roadside extortion, robbery, kidnapping, human trafficking, money laundering, among others. He also assured of the deployment of effective tactics and strategies necessary to achieve their goal in the fight.
Corroborating, a former President General of ODU and the Commander Obosi Central Security, Sir Dan Chiemezi Igbokwubiri, noted that the strategy to be deployed is an invocation of an already tested and trusted tactics in the past, and assured that the committee had already established a well structured security architecture, noting that there is no escape for any fleeing criminal.
He called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo and other well meaning Ndi Obosi both home and abroad to partner with the Union in the fight to secure their hometown for the betterment of all.
Lending their voice, One of the kingmakers, Chief Udemba Hyacinth Nnodebe, and Isiowo Youth Chairman, Nze Greg Chinedu Ikemefuna, commended the leadership of the committee for their good Initiative, noting that it is indeed, a unique move to take the community back from hoodlums.
