Barrister Casmir Agbo, Chairman of Labour Party (LP) Enugu State chapter, has raised the alarm over an alleged threat to assassinate him and other stakeholders of the party in the state.
In a press release issued in Enugu on Monday, Agbo mentioned some of the stakeholders marked for elimination to include LP Governorship candidate in March 18 election, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, Hon. Emma Agama, Barr. Collins Eze Agbo, Hon. Cosmos Agbo and Hon. Ekene Okenyi. All, except Edeoga, are from Opi Community in Nsukka Local Government Area.
According to the release, the LP chairman accused rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being the brain behind the alleged plan.
Agbo claimed in the release that, “the PDP in the state had set out plans to remove some key stakeholders of Labour Party in Opi and the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga.”
According to him, the PDP had allegedly concluded that they would not allow Labour Party to take over from the party after the anticipated Appeal Court judgment but rather prefers another party to take over.
The Labour Party chairman said the matter has been reported to the Force headquarters Abuja for necessary action.
The PDP in either Opi ward or the State chapter is yet to respond to the allegation.
