Nearly two weeks after the Supreme Court gave its verdict on the presidential election petitions in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has accused the judiciary of sacrificing justice for political expediency.
Obi who addressed a press conference Monday in Abuja, said the Supreme Court judgment dashed the hopes of a majority of Nigerians who had looked up to the apex court for justice.
Obi said that as a strong believer in democracy, he and his running mate, Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed, had exhausted all the legal means to challenge the errors of the 2023 polls.
He said his party “is now ready to take the message of a new Nigeria to the grassroots.”
Ikengaonline had reported that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, had also in a similar press conference last week, rejected the verdict, saying he would continue to help to strengthen democracy in Nigeria.
