Teachers and pupils of World Bank Modern Primary School, Umuahia, Abia State capital, have decried the activities of vandals who have virtually stripped the school buildings naked and carted away the roofs.
Describing the ugly development as wickedness, the pupils called on Government for urgent intervention and protection from the hoodlums.
The pupils including Miss Ogechi Ogbuka, and Master Godwin, regretted that the criminal activities of the vandals had forced the pupils to study in unconducive environments.
They appealed to the State Government to quickly intervene and also initiative measures to forestall further vandalism of the school by deploying security guards to the school.
In an interview, the Headteacher of the school, Mrs Stella Iheanacho (Section 1), and her Section 2 counterpart, Mrs Hope Ibeahusi, expressed deep worry over the sad development.
They said such criminal act amounted to wickedness against the children and teachers made to bear the brunt of such unpatriotic act.
The Head Teachers, also appealed to Government for quick intervention, while urging members of the public to assist them against the menacing activities of vandals in the school.
This is coming barely 24 hours after the State Government announced the closure of 197 substandard private schools across the state.
