The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has issued a certificate of return to the winner of the November 11 off-cycle governorship election in Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma; and his Deputy, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru in Owerri.
The INEC National Commissioner in-charge of South-East, Mr Kenneth Ukeagbu, while issuing the certificate reminded the Governor of his obligation to deliver good governance and urged him to continue to uphold the unity of the people of Imo State.
Mr Ukaegbu assured that INEC would continue to improve on the gains recorded in the electoral process and will not waver in ensuring the sanctity of the ballot box.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Professor Sylvia Agu, congratulated Governor Uzodimma on his victory at the polls and urged him to deliver on his promise during electioneering, which earned him the victory.
The Governor-Elect, who is the incumbent governor, attributed his victory to God and his outstanding performance in office and vowed to consolidate on the gains recorded by his administration.
Governor Uzodimma vowed to uphold the Imo Charter of Equity, which will guarantee power shift to Owerri zone in the next four years and called on other contestants to join hands with him to move the state to an enviable level.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for conducting peaceful and credible elections and promised to run an all inclusive government.
