The Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA) has commenced inspection and development control on all waterways and illegal structures in Enugu, the state capital.
Speaking during the joint inspection at the weekend, the chairman, Mr. Uche Anya, decried the risk of building structures around waterways.
Anya warned that: “All buildings and illegal structures around waterways in the metropolis should be removed.”
He said that the authority would not permit the existence of such illegal structures in the capital city anymore.
According to him, “Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mba’s administration is committed to the safety of lives of Ndi Enugu and there is no turning back on that resolve.”
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to making and keeping Enugu Capital Territory a safe and clean environment for all.
On his part, the state commissioner for information, Mr Aka Eze Aka, commended the agency for it’s resilient effort to combat the proliferation of illegal structures in the capital city.
He called on developers to seek proper approval from the Agency before embarking on constructed and urged the general public to comply fully with the agency’s directive to achieve city beautification.
Aka maintained that the ministry would continue to disseminate information on the agency’s activities at all times.
The team inspected waterways and illegal structures at Trans Ekulu, Abakpa Junction and New Haven extension in Enugu State.
