Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has assented into law a bill to harmonise the retirement age of teachers in Imo State from sixty years to sixty five years of age and thirty five years to forty years in service.
Performing the ceremony at the government house, Owerri, Senator Uzodimma urged the teachers to show more commitment and seriousness in their duty.
He expressed gratitude to the state Assembly for doing a good job after a rigorous process during the bill, noting that it would enhance the teachers’ job satisfaction.
The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Mr. Chike Olemgbe, while presenting the bill to the governor, stressed that the Act would serve as a veritable tool to enhance the culture of teaching and learning in the state.
The speaker expressed happiness for presenting the first bill signed into law at the 10th Imo State House of Assembly.
