The Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, has praised the Management of Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) and the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) for their roles in the digital transformation of the university.
The VC expressed his appreciation during the 21st Convocation Ceremony of the university in Edo State.
Delivering his welcome address, Prof. Ezemonye, specifically thanked DBI and its other partner NCC for the laudable Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI) brought to the University to equip teaching and non-teaching staff with the digital skills needed in the University environment.
DBI, which is an acronym for Digital Bridge Institute is a foremost capacity building and digital learning Institute in the country. Its President/CEO, Prof Mohammed Ajiya was represented at the event by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Mr. Akin Ogunlade.
The 3-Day Convocation Ceremony which started on Friday, 24th, and to end on Sunday, 26th November, 2023, features the Award of First Degrees, Higher Degrees, Presentation of Prizes, and Conferment of Honorary Degrees to deserving graduates and personalities.
During the ceremony two Guest Speakers, Dr. Peggy Oti-Besteng, Executive Director of African Academy of Science, Nairobi, and Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, made presentations on the topics: The Changing Higher Education Landscape, Implications for Emerging Workplace Dynamics and Public and Private Sector Intervention in Tertiary Education in Nigeria Stimulus for Innovative Research and Development respectively.
The Main Auditorium which served as the venue of the ceremony was filled with Vice-Chancellors of other universities, Professors, Executive Directors, Captains of Industries, and politicians of note.
