General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, has assured residents of improved security in Anambra State especially during this yuletide season.
Dada gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
The GOC said the visit was to discuss potential collaboration on the security front, and to strengthen the synergy between the Army and civil administration.
During the meeting, Major General Dada discussed several issues relating to security in the region, and the need to continue to tackle the menace posed by insecurity.
The GOC emphasised the importance of close coordination between the Army and civil administration to ensure peace and security.
While commending the efforts of the state government in securing the state, assured the Governor of extended support and assistance in handling security challenges that may arise in the future.
Responding, Governor Soludo commended the Army’s efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
He stated that many of the security personnel have paid the supreme sacrifice during what he described as the peculiar self-inflicted insurgency in the region.
He stated that the Army and other security agencies have been vital partners in the development of the state, and extolled the role they play in maintaining law and order.
