Anambra State Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has begun charity visits to orphanages and welfare homes in the State.
The visits according to the First Lady was inspired by need to give the children and other occupants of the homes a sense of the celebration, interact with them on areas of needs and remind them that they are always loved.
Speaking at each of the homes where she shared great time with the inmates, Mrs Soludo explained that her mindset of Christmas is to reach out to those who are often forgotten by the society in times of such celebrations, and put smiles on their faces.
She noted that such visits meant so much to her, arguing that Christmas will lose it essence if the language of love and kindness is abandoned.
She disclosed that her plan was to visit every children’s home in the State before Christmas, covering private, public and mission-owned ones.
“I continue to call on people to extend a hand of compassion to those around them who do not have, with the understanding that humanity will be better when everyone feels loved and protected,” she said.
Speaking in one of the homes, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke, thanked the governor’s wife for setting the right example as not just the mother of the state, but a woman who lives by the virtues of kindness.
Wife of the deputy governor of Anambra State, Mrs Oluchi Ibezim, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South, Mrs Amaka Obi, wife of the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mrs Chioma Ezeokenwa, among others, joined in the visits.
