A ghastly auto crash has claimed the lives of eight family members at Amanwozuzu Junction in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
The incident which happened around 3pm on Friday caused traffic gridlock on the ever busy road.
According to eyewitnesses, the father of the family who was conveying his wife, 4 children and 2 relatives, in a sienna vehicle ran into a truck parked by the road, carrying rods.
The rods pierced through the windscreen stabbing all eight of them to death on the spot.
Policemen from the Ikeduru Local Government Area Division and some residents of the area, had to cut the vehicle to bring out the lifeless bodies of the family members and deposited them in a morgue.
The residents blamed the accident on the parked truck which was blocking the road, and called on the police to arrest the owner of the truck, stressing that the incident could have been averted if the truck was not parked on the road.
