Ben Ezechime, Enugu
Enugu State Government, says it has approved the establishment of an Army Barrack in Isi-Uzo Council Area of the state to curb insecurity in the area.
Aka Eze Aka, the state Commissioner for Information, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executives Council meeting in Enugu.
Aka said about 200 soldiers would be sent to Isi-Uzo to protect lives and property.
The approval followed a request by Gov. Peter Mbah to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen., Taoreed Lagbaja, during his recent visit to the state to establish an Army Base in the Area to checkmate criminal activities.
The establishment of a military base became imperative following frequent crisis that had engulfed the area in recent times.
The skirmishes which have led to loss of many lives are dimensional with struggle for farmlands and alleged illegal occupation of farmlands by the Fulani herders at the center of the crisis.
