The Police command in Imo State has confirmed an attack on Correctional Service Farm Settlements, Umualomoke, in Okigwe, in the early hours of today, resulting in the release of seven inmates, death of a Police Inspector and abduction of the officer in charge of the farm settlement.
The command also confirmed an attack on the residence of Senator Patrick Ndubeze, senator representing Imo North senatorial district.
The commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma disclosed this during an on-the-spot assessment of the ugly incidents.
CP Danjuma ordered immediate deployment and equipping of the command’s Tactical Squad to go all out in synergy with other sister security agencies and hunt down the hoodlums responsible for the attacks.
He also mandated the squad to intensify efforts in ensuring that the officer in charge of the farm settlement is rescued unhurt and the fleeing inmates arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
CP Danjuma called on the general public who may have any useful information that will assist the operatives in arresting the hoodlums to kindly report at the nearest Police Station or via 08034773600.
The Commissioner therefore encouraged residents of the State to go about their lawful businesses without any form of fear as the Command is on top of the situation and have emplaced adequate security measures to forestall future occurrence.
