ICSAN tasks leaders on transparency, accountability
By Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia
Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria, ICSAN, has tasked public office holders on transparency and accountability for good corporate governance.
Acting Chairman of ICSAN, Abia State chapter, Pastor Goodman Wokoma, gave the charge during the inauguration of the members of the state executive.
He stressed that public office holders must make transparency and accountability their watchwords if they must earn the trust of their followers.
The ICSAN boss identified lack of transparency and accountability as the major cause of the erosion of public confidence on leaders
According to him, any leader that is not transparent or cannot be held accountable has no business in leadership.
He, therefore, enjoined members of the public to support the process for transparency and accountability as pivotal needs for good corporate governance.
Wokoma averred that the essence of the Institute in the socio-eco system of Nigeria “is to act as a builder and enabler for our human capital development process for an overall good corporate governance.”
He added that the vision of the institute was to create a membership base across the length and breadth of public and private sectors.
Some of the member of the inaugurated State Executive of the Institute include:
Mrs Chidinma Chikara, Ag. Secretary; and former Permanent Secretary Abia Government House, Mr Nkwachukwu Agomoh who was elected the Publicity Secretary.
