The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Kanayo Uzuegbu, has urged residents to celebrate Easter responsibly in peace and love as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
The Commissioner also urged residents to report suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest police station or personnel this festive period.
This is contained in an Easter message issued on his behalf by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Friday in Enugu.
He also assured adequate security, adding that he had ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Tactical and Operational Squads of Enugu State Police Command to deploy all the intelligence and operational resources at their disposal.
According to him, “I have ordered them to dominate, and ensure visibility patrols and crime prevention in their areas of responsibility.
“I congratulate the good people of Enugu State at home and abroad, as they join other Christians in the world to celebrate this year’s Easter, which marks the crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“I assure them of adequate security before, during, and after the period of the celebration.
“Christ’s voluntary sacrifice of his life for the salvation of man as an act of love is worthy of emulation.
“I enjoin residents of Enugu State to continue to be law-abiding, vigilant, and promptly report suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest police station, or alternatively, call 08098880172 or 08086671202 or send emails to infoenugupolice@gmail.com,” he said.
