Five persons have been reported dead, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident involving a transit bus and a tipper.
The accident, which happened around Orogwe market bus stop along Owerri-Onitsha expressway in Imo State, involved a luxurious bus owned by the Lords Chosen Ministry, which was transporting church members from Lagos State to Owerri for a programme.
Ikengaonline learned that two vehicles were coming from Onitsha to Owerri, when the coaster bus, while trying to overtake the tipper, collided with it from behind and lost control, causing it to crash into the roadside culvert.
The conductor and driver of the tipper died on the spot, while the bus driver survived after crushing three people waiting to board vehicles at the bus stop.
One of the survivors of the incident, while narrating the incident said, “we were many in that vehicle, I don’t know if it’s full or not but our loads are also inside. We were going to our church programme in Owerri when we had this accident.”
