People of Amanuke community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State have lamented over the lack of peace and development in their community.
The people attributed the backwardness of the town to the rancour trailing the enthronement of a traditional ruler in the area.
They decried the level of decay in the community, which they blamed on the tussle over traditional stool and president general of the community.
Carrying placards with different inscriptions at the community village Square, the people lamented that life has been miserable for them, adding that the tussle over their traditional stool was their major concern.
They also complained that some people conspired and stole a Lister generating power for the community.
Speaking to journalists, an indigene, Ike Oyema, said a Lister that was brought by the MTN to Amanuke community was sold by certain individuals at the helm of affairs of the community.
He said: “Two years ago, a Lister that was generating light for Amanuke secondary school was stolen, yet nothing was done about it. The Present President General was the acting PG the time it was stolen. Again, in his tenure as PG, our Lister giving light to the community has been stolen without information on its whereabouts up till today. This present one is the second time such is happening in Amanuke community.”
On his own, Okoyo Nwakamma of the community, solicited for government intervention on the community’s leadership crisis. He also urged government to help correct the deed that has been done against the wish of the people.
