Ugo Nosiri, Owerri
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has announced the commencement of payment of gratuities to the retirees in the state.
Governor Uzodimma stated this during an interaction with government officials at the government house Owerri.
He said the payment of gratuities would start on the thirtieth of April, before the celebration of workers day on the first of May.
The Governor expressed his desire to improve on the welfare of civil servants in the state, to make the workers put in their best with the hope to reap the benefit of their efforts by receiving their pension and gratuity.
Senator Uzodimma also disclosed that he has been saving money in a dedicated account called gratuity since he assumed office in 2020 and has resisted the pressure to tamper with the account.
He maintained that the retirees who manipulated their data in order to be paid higher, would however be paid exactly what is due to them according to government records of time of employment and retirement.
