Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has given an official approval for the disposal of abandoned corpses at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku-Awka.
This was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer, Agbai Henrietta, in a statement released to journalists on Wednesday.
The statement notified the general public that corpses to be buried are ones that have been in the mortuary from 2014 to December, 2023.
It also informed individuals whose relatives are missing to visit the hospital’s mortuary for possible identification and collection within a month of the announcement.
The statement read: “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Anambra State has approved the disposal of Abandoned corpses at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital Amaku-Awka.
“To this end, the Management wishes to inform the general public that COOUTH Amaku-Awka intends to conduct mass burial of the abandoned corpses in its mortuary from 2014 to 2023 December.
“Therefore, those whose relatives are missing should visit the hospital’s mortuary for possible identification and collection of such corpse(s) within one month from this publication/announcement.
