…Tasks appointees on service delivery

Governor Alex Otti, has sworn in former Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Abia State chapter, Dr Chimezie Okwuonu, as the Chief Medical Director, CMD, Abia Specialist Hospital.
The Governor also swore in Dr Eno Jerry-Eze, wife of a popular preacher, Jerry Eze, as the new Chairman, Abia Civil Service Commission.
He later inaugurated members of the newly constituted Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB; Diaspora Commission, among others.
Among the newly inaugurated Aides were two Special Advisers – Dr Ngozi Azodoh (Adviser on Health); and Engr Kachy Etolue (Special Adviser on Energy).
Others were Mrs Nkolika Ubani (Senior Special Assistant Legal); Agbonma Ukaobad (Senior Special Assistant on Ease of Doing Business).
Gov. Otti tasked the Board Chairmen and members as well as other appointees on service delivery.
He charged them to key into the transformation agenda of his administration to rebuild the state “from the ruins of the past years.”
Otti further charged the new appointees to bring to bear, their wealth of experiences and add value to his administration.
The Governor explained that he brought them on board because of his strong conviction that they would help push the boundaries of governance in the right direction.
He encouraged them to work closely with the development partners of Government to achieve the goals of his administration.
Emphasising on commitment to excellence, Otti warned that his administration had zero tolerance for corruption.
“Our commitment to excellence in service delivery remains sacrosanct for the simple reason that Abians deserve no less.
“Integrate yourselves into our specific and general programmes designed to improve the lot of our hardworking men and women, to support, and give them the leverage to build their tomorrow today, using the bricks of yesterday’s experiences.
“We believe you would bring your experiences to bear to make our state the star in your areas of specialisations.
“Your assignment is clearly linked to the entire spectrum of our economic and social development agenda.”
Gov. Otti said he carefully selected the new ASUBEB management team to “drive our holistic development programme in the basic education sector, working hand in glove with various local, national and international partners to create a certain competitive edge for Abia children in terms of quality of knowledge and a robust understanding of the dynamics of the world they will live in as adults.”
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated appointees, the CMD, Abia Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Dr Okwuonu expressed gratitude to the Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve, and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
Similarly, the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Pastor Dr Eno Jerry- Eze, promised to bring their expertise to bear in the discharge of their duties.
