An officer of the Anambra State Police Command is to face disciplinary actions from police authorities in the state for assaults and other related offences.
This is following a viral video where the officer was seen assaulting a citizen.
In a statement, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said “the erring officer have been identified and the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered immediate disciplinary proceedings to commence on the incident.”
He said the CP has reiterated that the command under his watch would not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct by police personnel.
He also said the CP has emphasised the need for Officers to be courageously calm when dealing with the civil populace especially when being provoked, urging citizens to always respect the civil authority and be law-abiding.
