Governor Alex Otti of Abia State is to inaugurate additional seven roads completed by his administration as part of activities marking the one year anniversary of his administration.
Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu who disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting, said five of the roads are in Aba while two are in Umuahia.
The enumerated the roads as University Road, Green Avenue, Kent by Ehi Road, the six-lane Ossah road Umuahia, and the dual carriage Dozie Way Umuahia
Kanu who said Otti had posted remarkable achievements, said that more transformations would be witnessed in the years ahead.
“It has been one year of impactful leadership. Otti has redefined governance. We may not be where we want to be but, definitely, we are no longer where we used to be,” the Commissioner averred.
The Commissioner, however, said that the One Year anniversary of Otti’s administration would be celebrated in low key.
According to him, it is a period of retrospection and focus on the future for the tasks ahead.
He said the Governor would hold town hall meetings in the three senatorial zones to engage with the grassroots to feel their pulse about his administration.
Contributing, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, said that the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee, JAAC, building abandoned by the past administration, had been completed by Otti.
On the cost of the project, the Commissioner said that the abandoned JAAC building was awarded in excess of N4 billion by the past administration.
He explained that the current administration did not change the cost but persuaded the same contractor who left site because of past Government’s inability to pay, to continue with the same cost.
He said the current administration had injected N1 5 billion into the building project besides the tarring and dualisation of the road leading to the complex with a functional lift.
He added that 33kva transformer had equally been installed with a generating set to ensure power supply.
Prince Nwachukwu said that Otti was more interested in completing the project because of its importance to the state instead of going to begin a new one for vain glory.
Nwachukwu described the completion of the JAAC building project as one of the landmark achievements of Gov. Otti in his first year in office.
Adding his voice, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, said Otti had performed creditably, and would surpass his achievements so far in the coming years.
He solicited continued support of the people for the success of his administration.
