Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has expressed delight over the judgment of the election petition tribunal which affirmed his declaration as the winner of the November 11, 2023, governorship election in the state.
Speaking to Journalists in Owerri, the Governor said the unanimous judgment of the three judges in Abuja on Friday was a confirmation that the people of the state overwhelmingly voted for him at the poll.
Governor Uzodimma promised to remain focused in the efforts of his administration to develop the state .
The Governor who contested the election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress polled a total of 540, 308 votes to defeat his closest opponent Senator Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 71, 503 votes to emerge second while senator Athan Achonu of the Labour Party came third with 64, 081 votes.
The PDP and LP candidates had approached the tribunal over security concerns to nullify the election alleging irregularities in the conduct of the election.
The two candidates were yet to react to the judgment as at the time of filing this report.
