Unknown gunmen on Wednesday morning descended on Ibagwa Aka the headquarters of Igboeze South Local Government council of Enugu State.
Sources said the gunmen invaded the community and started shooting sporadically burning tricycles, cars and shops in the area indiscriminately.
A source said that in the melee that followed, two people were killed and several others injured.
A short alarm notice by an eye witness reads: “Pls, let’s guard our movement, unknown gunmen at nkwo market Ibagwa Aka.
“Two people down already. Many properties destroyed, Keke, bus full loaded with food stuff, a Dangote trailer loaded with cement, still counting,” he stated.
It would be recalled that Igboeze South and Igboeze North witnessed large scale insecurity during the dying days of the last administration in the state.
The Police are yet to comment on the matter.
