Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation (CEF) on Tuesday, May 28, said that children have the potential to be great and achieve their highest dreams.
The Executive Director, CEF, Mrs. Helen Egbe, said this at an event to mark the 2024 Children’s Day at News City Primary School, Mushin.
The foundation had earmarked three days for the celebration of Children’s Day from May 28-30.
Egbe noted that Children’s Day in Nigeria is a special occasion celebrated on May 27 to honour the vibrancy and potential of children.
According to her, it is a day when adults reminisce about their childhood and recognise the importance of nurturing the young minds who will be the future of tomorrow.
“Today, as we gather in the vibrant community of Mushin, Lagos, we are reminded of the dreams and aspirations that reside within each of you.
“Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation is proud to be part of this celebration, not only to provide entertainment but to share gifts that we hope will bring smiles to your faces and joy to your hearts.
“As we share these tokens of love, let us remember that the greatest gift we can offer is the commitment to your education and well-being.
“Our foundation has been at the forefront of promoting educational empowerment and community development. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
“To the primary schools present here today, I commend your dedication to nurturing these young minds. Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world, and by investing in these children, we are investing in a brighter, more prosperous future for all,” Egbe said.
She urged everyone present to make a pledge to support, protect, and empower every child, urging them to work together to ensure that every child has access to quality education, healthcare, and the freedom to dream big.
Egbe added that every child has the potential to be great.
“Whether you dream of becoming a doctor, an engineer, a teacher, a social worker, or an artist, believe in yourself, work hard, and never give up on your dreams,” Egbe said.
Also speaking, the Education Secretary, Mushin Local Government Education Authority, Princess Olufemi Akinlude, encouraged the students to do everything possible to focus on their studies.
“They must be ready to face their studies holistically.”
Akinlude said that the students have been exposed to the benevolence of many NGOs and should not take it for granted.
She expressed gratitude to Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation for being committed to the educational pursuit of many children within the Mushin LGEA.
The climax of the Children’s Day celebration was the cutting of the cake by the Education Secretary.
Ikengaonline reports that the children had a lot of fun, dancing to music and climbing the bouncing castle.
Various gift items were also presented to the children to mark the day.
