Abia State was totally on lockdown Thursday in full compliance of the sit-at-home order by Biafra agitators in honour of those who lost their lives during the Biafra/Nigeria war.
Economic and commercial activities were paralysed in the commercial city of Aba as well as Umuahia, the state capital.
Motor parks were also deserted as drivers and passengers all stayed away.
Human and traffic movements were also limited.
Banks did not open for business while many schools also did not open.
Many residents remained indoors while many of the streets in Umuahia were deserted.
Abia Tower Round About Aba Road which is a major business district in the city was virtually on lockdown.
Most of the shops around the vicinity were not open while some business owners were observed hanging around.
Some young men in the area, suspected to be apprentices were observed playing soccer.
A shop owner at the vicinity who did not want her name on print said even though she came out, she believed strongly in Biafra.
She said she saw nothing wrong with observing a peaceful sit-at-home in honour of those killed during the civil war.
Unconfirmed report, however, says there was a confrontation between security operatives and unknown gunmen around Aba area.
