About 50 miners have been reportedly trapped following the collapse of a mining site in Niger state.
According to local sources, the tragic incident occurred after a torrential rainfall on Sunday in Galkogo community in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
Reports say the mining site belongs to “African Minerals and Logistics Limited.”
One person is said to have been confirmed dead while six others are said to have been critically injured.
An excavator has been brought to the site as rescue efforts are on in search of the trapped miners.
