Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has advised members of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and turn around the fortunes of the institution in their care.
He made the remarks in his office when he received the 13-member team of the governing council led by the Chairman, Chief Henry Ikoh, who paid him a courtesy visit.
Governor Uzodimma congratulated the members over their appointment and urged them to be part of the efforts of the government in fighting poverty, hunger, unemployment, cultism, incessant strike and other ills bedeviling the tertiary institutions.
Senator Hope Uzodimma reminded them of the need to work in synergy with the management, students and host community of the school, appealing to them to make collective interest their watch word.
“We need to ensure that cultism in our institutions are reduced. That students are properly guided and directed before they are brought to the society to begin to do their businesses.”
The Chairman of the Board, Chief Henry Ikoh, thanked the Governor for creating time to receive them despite his busy schedule.
Chief Ikoh said their desire was to partner with the state government to take the institution to an enviable position, and promised that they will work towards ensuring that the students are properly guided in their chosen disciplines before graduation.
“We came here for your blessings. We came to solicit for your support. We came here for synergy. We are ready to work with the state government.“
