A two storey building under construction has collapsed in Ifite Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.
This is coming barely 24-hours after Dubai Lodge also in Ifite Awka collapsed.
A source in the area said the building was still under construction as at the time it caved in.
The source also said the building is located at No 19 Clement Ezeodili Street, an area dominated by Nnamdi Azikiwe University students hostels.
A resident said that they were aware that the building will collapse, because of the style the developer adopted in constructing the house.
Ikengaonline reports that with the latest incident, Anambra State has witnessed no fewer than 5 cases of building collapse between June and July, 2024.
The most recent was the collapse of a two storey building in a market in Amawbia, which trapped many market women killing a good number in the process.
Also, a five floor centenary building owned by Dennis Memorial Grammar School, a mission school owned by the Anglican Church and a block of stalls in Ochanja Market owned by the Anambra State Government had also collapsed.
Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo had set up a panel to investigate the collapses.
