Deputy Vice Chancellor, Gregory University Uturu, GUU, Professor Uwoma Uche, has commended the Mayor of Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, for his unprecedented developmental strides in the Council.
The Professor of Mass Communication who made the commendation in a statement after a visit to the Council headquarters, said he was impressed by the level and quality of infrastructural development currently going on in the area.
Professor Uche who hails from the Council noted that before now Arochukwu had not witnessed the level of infrastructural development courtesy of the Mayor.
The statement read: “Arochukwu LGA takes a paradigm shift in transformational Infrastructural development as the local government headquarters is now wearing a new look.The once dilapidated council hall, principal officers’ offices which were once in a sorry- state, have been transformed to a state- of- the-art edifice of international standard.
“All these are courtesy of the development- driven Mayor of Arochukwu LGA, Chief Joe Eze Aru.
Today, the hitherto devastated and comatose clime that once characterised Arochukwu is now wearing a new look and a haven for serious administrative engagement and a reference point of a convivial environment for aesthetic rendezvous.”
The DVC also commended Gov. Alex Otti for his choice of Mayor for Arochukwu whom he said had shown true leadership by example.
“The Otti administration clearly made the best choice in the person of the Mayor of Arochukwu LGA, Chief Joe Eze Aru, a sticker to excellence and prudent use of resources.
“Today, the government can clearly be vindicated that the era of opulence, financial mismanagement and area boy rascality in lining up pockets of local government administrators and turning the allocations of local government councils to conduit pipes of waste and opulence to the detriment of the local government councils.”
He also applauded the Mayor for embarking on townhall meeting to engage the locals in all five clans of Arochukwu LGA – Isu, Ututu, Arochukwu, Ihechiowa, and Abam.
He said that the townhall meetings would afford the people the opportunity to ventilate their views on various issues bothering them.
