His Eminence Dr Eberechukwu Oji, Saturday ascended the royal throne of Arochukwu ancient kingdom of Abia State.
Speaking after his coronation, the new Aro monarch, called for an end to marginalisation and exclusivity against the Igbo nation.
He also called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, arguing that his release will help facilitate national peace and cohesion.
The monarch also called for the end of marginalisation and every form of injustice against the Igbo race.
“ Marginalisation and exclusivity must give way for fairness and equity,” he declared.
Eze Aro argued that Ndigbo deserve better treatment in view of their numerous contributions for the development of Nigeria.
The first class royal father also called for peace and unity among Aro kingdom, and Ndigbo in general.
On the need for unity among Aro people, he said: “In unity lies our true power; unity and wisdom have preserved our ancient kingdom.”
He vowed to bridge the divides that had hindered the progress of the Aro kingdom.
The monarch promised to be a servant leader and be devoted to the prosperity and well-being of Aro kingdom.
Eze Aro, an oil merchant also promised to promote regional integration and revival of the rich cultural heritage of the Aro kingdom.
“I will continue to engage in national and regional agenda.”
The monarch who is a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church promised to promote godliness and rule with the fear of God.
“I will put God first and abide by Aro motto which is ‘ako n’uche’ (good sense).
Speaking at the colorful event, Governor Alex Otti said that “any society without leadership is a cursed society.”
He commended Aro people for the choice of Eze Oji as the new Eze Aro, declaring him as the best candidate for the royal stool.
“Gone are the days when people chose the worst rather than the best as their leader. Aro people made the best choice. From what I have heard, read and seen about Eze Aro, he is the best in his class.”
Governor Otti further said that the new Eze Aro “is the best any society should have,” adding that he is a leader that will show the light and not initiate people into darkness.
“He is a leader with second address. He is a leader that will invest in the people and not steal from them.
Meanwhile eminent personalities from all walks of life including captains of industry and traditional rulers from various regions of the country attended the event.
He was later prayed for by the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, represented by Pastor Joseph Obayomi.
The Pastor turned monarch took some time to sing before making his coronation speech amidst cheers.
