The Management of Abia State University, Uturu, has suspended a lecturer in the Mass Communication Department (names withheld) who was allegedly caught in a hotel attempting to sleep with a female student.
Video clip of the sex scandal has gone viral on the social media.
The incident was said to have occured in a popular hotel in Umuahia, the state capital.
The randy lecturer’s suspension was contained in a statement issued by the university Registrar, Dr Acho Elendu.
The suspension, which is for three months in the first instance, with half salary, will be pending until the conclusion of the investigation panel already set up to look into the matter.
The statement read: “Following the disturbing online video clip involving you, trending in the social media, which has brought embarrassment to Abia State University, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Governing Authorities, has approved your immediate suspension from duty for three (3) months in the first instance, with half salary, in line with the University conditions of service, pending the conclusion of investigation, for which a panel has been set” the suspension letter partly reads.”
The suspended lecturer was further directed to hand over any university property in his custody to his Head of Department.
It further requested all relevant authorities of the university to note the directive and ensure strict compliance.
