Nollywood Actress and brand influencer, Chioma Amuna, (a.k.a Hannah Cyril), has advised upcoming actors and actresses not to allow the urge for money influence their acting.
Amuna, who hails from Ebe in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, gave the advice in an interview with the Ikengaonline on Friday in Enugu.
She admonished upcoming artists to be passionate and focus on becoming the best in the business and not allow money to influence them.
Amuna said, “We want to make money in all our endeavours, but as actors you have to be passionate and inspire others out there with your work and role delivery.
“When you are more interested in how much you will be paid, you may lose it. As a good actor, you must be passionate about acting roles to deliver your best.”
She also encouraged upcoming artists to invest in themselves before joining the industry to survive its challenges.
“As someone aspiring to be an actress or an actor, you have to invest in your personal growth.
“Education is very important and above all, learn a skill or trade to support yourself financially,” Amuna said.
She described Nollywood as another world in itself with so many people and different characters, saying upcoming artists have to be mentally and emotionally prepared.
She said her parents never wanted her to become an actress but today they are singing a different tune.
“Today, my family is my support system and my mother is my number one fan. I derive joy doing what I do.
“Stella Damascus, Stephanie Okereke and Jennifer Lopez of Hollywood inspire me every day in my chosen career.
“I have acted in so many movies such as “Change My World,” “Just A Kiss,” “International Housemaid,” and “The Wedding Ring.”
“I have acted with Kanayo.O. Kanayo, Yul Edochie, Alex Usifo, Destiny Etiko, Bolanle Ninalowo, Eve Esin amongst others.
“I want to see myself featuring in Hollywood movies and engage in projects showcasing on cinema and Netflix in the near future,” she said.
Amuna expressed optimism that Nollywood would continue to be better and compete favourably with the international movie industries like Bollywood and Hollywood in the near future.
