The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has announced the date for the long awaited local government election in the state.
A release signed by the State Chief Electoral Officer, Genevieve Osakwe, read: “The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission wishes to inform all registered political parties and the general public that the local government election in the state will be held on Saturday September 28, 2024.
“Election timetable/schedule of activities and other details can be collected from the Headquarters of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, Awka, from Wednesday 14 August, 2024.”
Ikengaonline reports that local government election was last conducted in Anambra 10 years ago, under Peter Obi’s administration. The election will mark the return of grassroots governance in the state.
