Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has delivered a message of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among people of different faith as Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid el Maulud festival.
In a goodwill message signed by Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo stressed the need for all individuals to respect each other’s beliefs and traditions, and to work towards fostering unity and harmony in society.
Soludo described Eid el Maulud as a significant occasion that marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and serves as a reminder of his exemplary life, teachings, and the virtues of Islam which are peace, love, and brotherhood.
The governor urged all Muslim Ummah to reflect on the Prophet’s message of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
He emphasised the importance of fostering an atmosphere of harmony, understanding, and mutual respect among people of all faiths in Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.
Soludo also called on the Muslim community to use the period of celebration to pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Anambra State and Nigeria.
He further urged them to extend their hand of fellowship to the needy and vulnerable in the society.
