Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, Wednesday, formally took over the headship of the Abia State Police Command, as the new CP following the redeployment of former CP, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General, AIG, of Police, to Zone 15, Maiduguri.
CP Isa was until his redeployment to Abia, the CP, Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Annex, Alagbon, Lagos. He hails from Kogi State.
The new CP, while addressing members of his Management team and senior officers of the Command, vowed to sustain the war against insecurity.
He issued quit notice to criminals terrorising residents of the state, vowing to deal ruthlessly with them unless they turn a new leaf.
CP Isa who said he had zero tolerance for corrupt practices, warned officers and men of the command to keep off from unprofessional practices or face sanctions.
“I must emphasise that corrupt practices by any officer or personnel under my command will not be tolerated. Any such acts will be met with swift and decisive punitive measures, serving as a deterrent to others.
“Corruption undermines the very fabric of our mission, and I am committed to ensuring a zero-tolerance policy in this regard.”
He promised to respect human rights and handle members of the public with atmost civility.
“In carrying out our duties, human rights will be respected at all times. The police are here to protect and serve the people, and this responsibility must be exercised with the utmost respect for the dignity and rights of every individual.
“The police under my command will uphold a high standard of civility in our interactions with the public.
“It is essential that we maintain professionalism, fairness, and impartiality in all our dealings to ensure justice for everyone, regardless of status or background.
“We will be both firm and fair, ensuring that the rule of law is upheld without discrimination or favoritism.
“I will be approachable, friendly, and accessible to the public. Building trust between the police and the community is one of my top priorities, and we will work hard to earn that trust through openness and transparency in our actions.”

“Misconduct of any kind by officers will be dealt with in accordance with the law. No one is above the law, and those who tarnish the image of the force will face appropriate sanctions.”
The CP who said he came to help improve security in Abia, promised to consolidate on the gains of his predecessor.
“I arrived here with a clear mission: to ensure peace and security in Abia State, to foster collaboration with all stakeholders, and to promote a conducive environment where law and order prevail,” he said.
The police boss who said he would work in synergy with other security agencies, promised to use technology and Intelligence gathering in the fight against crime.
“My commitment to the people of Abia is unwavering, and I am determined to work diligently with all relevant partners, including other security agencies, community leaders, and the public, to achieve our shared goal of sustained peace and security.”
He promised to apply technology and Intelligence gathering in combating crime in the state.
“Under my leadership, the police in Abia will prioritize intelligence-led policing. This approach is crucial in tackling modern crime challenges, as it allows us to stay one step ahead by preventing crimes before they occur.
“By gathering, analysing, and acting on
timely and relevant information, we can be more proactive and responsive in dealing with criminal activities.”
In his farewell speech, the out-going AIG, Onwuemelie, thanked the officers and men of the command for their support and cooperation with him, urging them to extend similar gestures to the incoming CP.
Onwuemelie who noted with delight that under his watch, criminality especially kidnapping drastically subsided in the state, urged the police and other security agencies to sustain the tempo.
