Ben Ezechime, Enugu
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on Sunday described Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary as a milestone.
The governor said that societies thrive when governments nurture the sense of inclusion and banish the feelings of alienation.
Mbah stated this at a special church service at the government house chapel, Enugu, organised to commemorate the 64th Independence anniversary of Nigeria.
He reassured the people of the state of his administration’s commitment to doubling down on all round development in the state.
He urged Nigerians to be united in order to have inclusive economic development.
Mbah further urged the citizens to support and pray for the leaders at all levels, for God to intervene in the challenges bedeviling the country.
Earlier in his homily, the chancellor, Enugu Catholic Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Wilfred Agubuchie, who mentioned several reasons Nigerians should be thankful to God while celebrating the anniversary of the country, commended Governor Mbah for his purposeful and results oriented leadership.
Fr Agubuchie said that Governor Mbah’s leadership is driven by common good and called on the people of the state to support the governor’s goodwill for the people.
The speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uche Ugwu, reaffirmed the commitment of leaders to providing quality leadership to the people of the state.
