The South-East Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (SECCIMA), has concluded plans to publish a compendium of 100 Outstanding Entrepreneurs from the South-East zone.
This was contained in a statement issued in Enugu, jointly signed by Chief Humphrey Ngonadi, President and Dr Daniel Ochi, Director General of SECCIMA respectively.
According to the statement, the publication will serve as a compendium, profile of 100 nominated NDIGBO, whose entrepreneurial activities, business ideas, inventions and innovations have made high impact in economic development, employment generation and poverty reduction in South-East in particular and Nigeria in general.
The statement reads: “This is to inform you that the South-East Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (SECCIMA) is about to publish the compendium of 100 Most Outstanding Entrepreneurs from South-East Nigeria.
“As you may wish to know, SECCIMA is a coalition and the apex body of the 17 registered city Chambers of Commerce and Industry across the five states of South-East geopolitical zone.
“SECCIMA is the official mouthpiece of the organised private sector and the business community in the South-East, Nigeria.
“Part of the objectives is to promote, protect the interest of the business community, encourage, and stimulate investment, the growth of SMEs, carry out business advocacy on ease of doing business in South-East in particular and Nigeria in general.
“It is the largest organised private sector (OPS) platform and a forum for interaction, brainstorming and exchange of ideas, business and investment opportunities among entrepreneurs and business community within and outside the region.”
The statement further said: “As part of her official mandates, SECCIMA has concluded plans to publish the first edition of a compendium of 100 MOST OUTSTANDING ENTREPRENEURS FROM SOUTHEAST.
“The unveiling of the publication has been planned to hold on Friday 22rd of November 2024 at Enugu as part of the activities to celebrate the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2024.”
According to the statement, the publication is one of the ways SECCIMMA planned to celebrate, honour and recognise such men and women of Igbo extraction so as to encourage them and others to do more in the economic, social and commercial development of Igboland.
“The publication will also be a resource document for many especially researchers, investors, budding entrepreneurs and youths who are aspiring to be successful entrepreneurs in future,” it stated.
SECCIMA noted that every second week of November every year has been set-aside by the United Nation to celebrate entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs whose ideas are helping to shape and make the world a better place.
“We will use the occasion to celebrate our entrepreneurs from South-East, hence the unveiling will hold on the said date by the Grace of God,” the chamber said.
