The Imo State Police Command says it is embarking on Show of Force operations and Confidence Building Patrols across the state.
According to a release signed by the command spokesperson in the state Mr. Henry Okoye, the show of force which is in collaboration with the Armed Forces and other security agencies, is in response to the proposed Sit-At-Home directives by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN),
The police says their primary objective is to ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens on the proposed days, October 21st and 22nd, 2024.
Listing out the agenda for the show of force, the release states: “Starting today, October 19th, and continuing through October 23rd, security personnel will enhance visibility policing through these patrols.
“Additionally, detectives will conduct reconnaissance operations to gather actionable intelligence. These efforts aim to reassure the public and maintain law and order.” it affirms.
The Command therefore urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant, continue their daily activities while being mindful of their surroundings.
It called on residents to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency line at 08034773600.
