…Uzodimma names conference centre after him
The remains of the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, was laid to rest in his country-home, Attah, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
The funeral was indeed a gathering of prominent Nigerians, friends and associates of the fallen leader of the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, who gathered to witness his remains committed to mother earth after running what many described as a good race.
In a funeral service held at the Cathedral of Saint Mathew Attah Ikeduru the Primate Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, stressed the need for Christians to always deploy their resources to the service of God and mankind.
Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba while eulogising the business mogul described him as a philanthropist who showed commitment in the affairs of God and mankind.
The Prelate called on the Federal Government to convene a national conference that would address the concerns of Nigerians while appealing for the empowerment of youths to achieve lasting peace.
In a message, President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, described the passing of Chief Iwuanyanwu as a colossal loss adding that he was a nationalist who promoted unity and harmony among Nigerians.
The Governor of Imo State, Chief Hope Uzodimma, extolled the virtues of Chief Iwuanyanwu describing him as a detribalised Nigerian who devoted his life to humanity.
Governor Uzodimma announced the renaming of the International Conference Center Owerri after Chief Iwuanyanwu as a mark of honour and appealed to the Federal Government to immortalise him by naming a national monument after him.
The eldest don of the deceased, Mr. Jidechukwu Iwuanyanwu, described his father as a man of grace who made exploits in all his endeavors.
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was elected the eleventh President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in April 2023 where he continued to champion the cause of Ndigbo and that of the entire Nigerians until his death in July this year at the age of eighty-two.
