Nigerians in the Netherlands have commended the efforts of Governor Peter Mbah to transform Enugu State into a model state particularly his penchant for infrastructural development, educational excellence and industrialisation.
President, Nigerian National Association-The Netherlands (NNA-NL), Dr Evelyn Azih, made the commendation during the 30th anniversary/launching of Maru Nwanne Civic centre by Enugu State indigenes resident in the Netherlands, held over the weekend in Almere.
Dr Azih, in a statement made available to Ikengaonline through the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Alex Ogbonnia, who was in attendance at the event, said Gov. Mbah had distinguished himself as a visionary leader committed to changing the narrative.
According to the statement, the landmark projects of Gov. Mbah, his policies and undeniable achievements in various sector of the state economy, have already distinguished him among other Governors from the South-East.
The statement urged the Governor to sustain his development quest while urging other Governors to emulate him.
It read: “On behalf of all Nigerians residing in the Netherlands under the umbrella of the Nigerian National Association-The Netherlands (NNA-NL), I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for all the energy he is putting into making sure that he transforms Enugu State into an industrialised economy.
“Your Excellency Sir, those of us in the diaspora, especially in the Netherlands are motivated by your great appetite for developmental projects and have keyed into it.”
The NNA-NL President, also commended Enugu State indigenes resident in Netherlands for their decision to build a civil centre back in their home state.
He promised to be on their toes to ensure a successful completion of the laudable project.
Dr Azih thanked the Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu; and the Ohanaeze Spokesman, Dr Ogbonnia, for attending the ceremony in person, describing them as patriotic Igbo leaders.
“Having the two fathers from Enugu State at the event is not only commendable, but a big motivation to us; and has publicly showcased your insights and commitment to this project initiated by one of our members, the Association of Enugu State Indigenes residing in The Netherlands (Maru Nwanne).”
The statement further read: “The Nigerian National Association-The Netherlands (NNA-NL) is a credible and formal umbrella body of all the Citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, residing in the Netherlands and belonging to various Nigerian Associations, Unions and Organisations in the Netherlands.
“The aims of forming this Association are to promote the culture and social welfare of our people both in the Netherlands and in our Home Land Nigeria, and to help our people in integrating in the Dutch Society.
“NNA-NL is engaged in identifying sustainable development projects and programmes in Nigeria and participating in the implementation of such projects for economic development in Nigeria.
“The Association of Enugu State Indigenes residing in The Netherlands (Stichting Maru Nwanne) is one of the strongest members of the Nigerian National Association-The Netherlands (NN-ANL) and we are committed to seeing that all Nigerian Associations in the Netherlands make meaningful impacts towards the development of their various States.
“Therefore, building a Civic Centre in Enugu State by the Association of Enugu State Indigenes residing in The Netherlands (Stichting Maru Nwanne) is a milestone which NNA-NL will see to its accomplishment.”
